Assistant Actuary - Annuity Product Development (Indianapolis, IN)


Global Atlantic/Forethought has an exciting opportunity for an Annuity Product Development Assistant Actuary position based in Indianapolis, IN. This position is a part of the Annuity product development and pricing team. The key responsibility is to support the product development and pricing for individual retail annuity products, primarily the fixed and indexed annuity lines of business. The individual that accepts this position will work with a broad, multi-disciplined team to find creative solutions to the issues and challenges faced in the domestic annuity market. This position will have opportunities to interact with all areas of the company, including product management, corporate actuarial, legal, financial reporting, investment, and sales/marketing, as well as senior management.   • Participate in the product development and pricing process that balances competitive pressures of the marketplace with a disciplined risk management focus of Global Atlantic.
  • Support product management. These responsibilities include risk management, experience studies, rate setting, and setting assumptions.
  • The candidate will develop or sharpen their modeling skills and learn best practices in pricing methods, processes, technologies, organization and documentation to improve overall efficiency and quality of product development efforts. MG-ALFA is our primary modeling software.
  • Support actuarial related product development needs such as state filing, IT, financial reporting, and service.
  • Maintain a strong line of communication with peers in product management, corporate actuarial, investments, and financial reporting.


  • Bachelor’s degree in math, computer science or actuarial science.
  • 1-3 Society of Actuaries exams.
  • Strong communication, technical, analytical and pricing skills.
  • Knowledge and/or background with MG-ALFA preferred but not necessary.
  • Ownership: Takes personal accountability for the execution of their goals and objectives.
  • Innovative: Able to participate in the generation of new and unique ideas.
  • Analytical Skills: Possess strong analytical skills necessary to price products.
  • Communication: Able to communicate effectively – verbal, written and listening – across the entire company.
