This site is not intended for children under the age of 13. We will not knowingly collect information from site visitors in this age group. We encourage parents to talk to their children about their use of the Internet and the information they disclose to Web sites.
In general, we collect only the information that you choose to give us. When you enter and save personal and business information on this site, we will maintain that information.
Like many Web sites, this site collects information from its visitors both by asking you specific questions and by permitting you to communicate directly with us via e-mail, feedback forms, and/or chat rooms. Some of the information that you submit may be personally identifiable information (that is, information that can be uniquely identified with you, such as your full name, address, e-mail address, phone number, and so on).
Some areas of this site may require you to submit information in order for you to benefit from the specified features or to participate in a particular activity. You will be informed at each such information collection point what information is required and what information is optional.
As you navigate through a Web site, certain information can be passively collected (that is, gathered without your actively providing the information) using various technologies and means, such as navigational data collection.
This site may use Internet Protocol (IP) addresses. An IP Address is a number assigned to your computer by your Internet service provider so you can access the Internet and is generally considered to be non-personally identifiable information, because in most cases an IP address is dynamic (changing each time you connect to the Internet), rather than static (unique to a particular user's computer). We use your IP address to diagnose problems with our server, report aggregate information, determine the fastest route for your computer to use in connecting to our site, and administer and improve the site.
"Internet tags" (also known as Web Bugs, single-pixel GIFs, clear GIFs, invisible GIFs, and 1-by-1 GIFs) are smaller than cookies and tell the Web site server information such as the IP address and browser type related to the visitor's computer. We use Internet tags at this site.
"Navigational data" ("log files," "server logs," and "clickstream" data) are used for system management, to improve the content of the site, for market research purposes, and to communicate information to visitors. This site uses navigational data.
We use the information that you provide to deliver responsive information, services and life insurance solutions for retirement and end of life expenses. We may also analyze certain types of information - but none of your personal identifying information - to determine trends and patterns. If you provide us with your e-mail address and agree to allow us to contact you, we may use your e-mail address for that purpose.
We may disclose your personally identifiable information to our affiliated companies. We also may disclose your personally identifiable information to selected third parties, located in the United States and/or any other country:
(ii) where required by applicable laws, court orders, or government regulations;
(iii) to process or service a product or service you request or authorize;
(iv) so that a third party may perform services on our behalf; and
(v) as otherwise permitted by law.
In addition, we will make full use of all information acquired through this site that is not in personally identifiable form.
To keep your personally identifiable information accurate, current, and complete, please contact us as specified above. We will take reasonable steps to update or correct personally identifiable information in our possession that you have previously submitted via this site.
Forethought Financial Group has adopted measures to protect against the loss, misuse or unauthorized alteration of your information. When you send personal data, we use Secure Socket Layer encryption for the transmission of that information. Our computer systems use firewalls and other security controls to guard against unauthorized access to information. We also use passwords to protect your personal information.
Because of the method used to store your password - a "hashed" format - the exact text of the password cannot be retrieved or viewed, even in the event of a forgotten password. At login, the password you send is hashed and compared to the one stored on our system.
If you lose or forget your password, you can request a new one by sending an email message or calling Forethought Financial Group. (See login page for details.) You will have to identify yourself using information you supplied when you registered with our site. Once verified, you will receive a new, temporary password that will give you access to the system.
Email can be used for scams, such as a false offer from a company or a false request to verify your personal information. Emails such as these most likely are from criminals who send thousands of emails at a time to random addresses. Often, these criminals are trying to entice recipients to visit a phony Web site and provide personal information such as online passcodes, Social Security numbers and account numbers.
If you receive a suspicious email, you should not open any attached file, follow any link or address that may be provided or respond to the email. If you receive a suspicious email that uses Forethought’s name, please report it to us at: firstname.lastname@example.org.
